Thursday Beginners - in Japanese! - Term 3 2022

Term 3

Fees

$370 Full / $335 Concession

Beginner

Japanese studies in action! Begin your taiko journey while immersing yourself in Japanese language and culture.

This is a 9 week taiko Beginners course. In this course, you will be introduced to the foundations of taiko, including exploring traditional playing styles of taiko. The difference between a regular Beginners class is that you are going to learn not only taiko but also Japanese language!

The course is led by experienced teachers with qualification in Japanese language teaching, as well as vast experience in Japanese cultural studies and performing arts.

The first few weeks will be focused on learning basic words, sentence structures and grammar in the context of taiko playing, as well as developing further understanding of taiko traditions.  English and Japanese will be used for instructions, however, gradually the course will equip the students to understand a class fully taught in Japanese.

The course is suitable for beginners and intermediate Japanese learners, but please send us an inquiry if you are unsure if the course is right for you. Contact Silvana Imperatori admin@percussionaustralia.com.au

Please note students are required to have their own bachi (sticks). If you wish to purchase these from Taikoz you may do so at the special student price of $40.

It is the Academy's policy that students must wear hearing protection while attending our classes. You can bring your own ear plugs, or purchase reusable ear plugs from our shop for $35 or disposable foam ear plugs at the dojo for $1.50.
