TAIKO TIME with Sophia
Technical Work, Body Stretches and Learning a New Piece of Music

After shaking out the day’s stresses and strains, Sophia will get you moving with some stretches and warm-ups before getting into a series of renshū that focus on basic strokes and techniques (kihon waza). This will then be applied to learning some new music. Sophia will include some odaiko air-drumming to help keep up the technique in anticipation of our return to the dojo.

These sessions are aimed at players who have some experience of playing taiko and wish to develop their technique. A drum pad and drumsticks is all that’s needed. And even then, if you don't have a drum pad on hand, you can make do with some sticks on a cushion or other spongy surface.
