TAIKO TIME with Sophia
Rhythm Work and Focus On Tamaire

After shaking out the day’s stresses and strains, Sophia will get you moving with some stretches and warm-ups before getting into a series of renshū for building speed and wrist strength. This will then be applied to a focus on tamaire – the solo shimedaiko section – from Yatai-bayashi.

These sessions are aimed at players who have some experience of tamaire and wish to develop their technique. A drum pad and drumsticks is all that’s needed. And even then, if you don't have a drum pad on hand, you can make do with some sticks on a cushion or other spongy surface.
