Ryuji is presenting four sessions on basic techniques like the base rhythm called mittsuuchi and kuchishoga, the ‘rhythm words’ used to sing rhythmic patterns. He will also cover various taiko rhythms for your improvisation and soloing, with tips on how to improve this area of playing.
Ryuji is also keen to answer any questions you may have about playing, taiko in general, history, and Japanese culture – basically anything to help you develop your playing. Ryuji’s Taiko Time is suited to players of all levels. A drum pad and drumsticks is all that’s needed. And even then, if you don't have a drum pad on hand, you can make do with some sticks on a cushion or other spongy surface.
