The ATA Ensemble focuses on high-level performance, challenging repertoire and demanding rehearsals. Needless to say, it is also fun!
The ATA Ensemble is open to all ATA Members who are enrolled in a weekly class and entry is by audition. The ensemble rehearses on Friday evenings 7:30-9:00pm in the Taikoz dojo and has access to Taikoz’s amazing instrumental batterie. Taikoz Artistic Director Ian Cleworth is the (non-playing) director of the ensemble, with other Taikoz Artists leading rehearsals from time to time.
To apply for the ATA Ensemble:
- Send your application by email to ad@taikoz.com and c.c. mailto:learn@australiantaikoacademy.com.au
- Please write your name and what 2023 weekly class you attend (no other information required)
Dates for the diary:
- JAN 7 (Sa): send application email by this date
- JAN 8 (Su): audition requirements emailed to applicants
- JAN 20 (Fr) from 6:00pm: auditions at Taikoz Dojo
- JAN 21 (Sa): all audition participants notified of decision
- Week of JAN 22 (Su-Fr): book in at this page (press BOOK NOW button above) / The cost is $180 / per term (4 terms annually)
- JAN 27 (Fr): 7:30-9:00pm: first rehearsal (see below for all Term 1 dates)
- JUN 30-JUL 1 (Fr-Sa): debut performances - prelude to Taikoz "Lion-Dogs" at NIDA Playhouse
N.B. If you wish to apply for the ATA Ensemble after the term has begun, please contact Ian at ad@taikoz.com and an audition can be arranged
Please note students are required to have their own bachi (sticks). If you wish to purchase these from Taikoz you may do so at the special student price of $40.
It is the Academy's policy that students must wear hearing protection while attending our classes. You can bring your own ear plugs, or purchase reusable ear plugs from our shop for $35 or disposable foam ear plugs at the dojo for $1.50.
