Ian Cleworth co-founded Taikoz with world renowned shakuhachi Grand Master Riley Lee in 1997, and Kerryn Joyce joined the ensemble not long after. Kerryn and Ian are proud to still be a part of Taikoz, and even after all this time remain committed to developing the creativity of the ensemble and nurturing the next generation of players.

The two have played countless concerts together, not just sharing the stage, but also ideas, creativity and practice – not to mention the sweat and tears. Yes, literally! Nearly 30 years of running, guiding and contributing to an ensemble and its organisation does not come without significant challenges. But overlaying all of this has been times of great fun, laughter and of course, fabulous music-making. This concert is a celebration of two friends – two people who have forged a bond of friendship through a shared passion of music, creativity and people.
Kerryn and Ian have curated a program that not only shows off their individual talents, but revels in their ensemble skills – to breathe as one.
