Taikoz - taking taiko to new heights in a world first

On 23rd April 2018, BridgeClimb hosted the world first Taiko performance at the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, celebrating a fusion of Australian and Japanese culture in the lead up to Japan’s Golden Week.
The special event was hosted by BridgeClimb Sydney; a bucket-list tourism experience of Australia that has taking more than 3.9 million people, aged from 8 to 100, from more than 137 countries on guided tours safely to the top of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Taikoz performer Ryuji Hamada said, “Taiko is the traditional Japanese art of ensemble drum playing, often seen at Japanese festivals and special events such as Golden Week celebrations, but you could not expect to see this at the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge!
“Taikoz has performed all around the world at some amazing locations, but performing with my team at the top of this Australia’s icon is something we will always remember”.
Helene Hennequin one of the special event guests said, “Climbing and learning all about the Sydney Harbour Bridge was fantastic and I’m surprise how safe everything was. Enjoying the incredible view and watching the powerful performance when we got to the top was very special and very dramatic. I’m so glad I got to share this experience with my partner.”
