Copenhagen-based Xuri creates sound material from the natural world. Her compositions blend experimental ambient and organic elements with pulsating rhythms overlaid with a modern art-music aesthetic that harmonises perfectly with Taikoz's musical approach to taiko and percussion.
Intertwining the electronic with the acoustic, Ian has composed for Taikoz's unique musical talents featuring his trademark rhythmically complex percussion writing that contrasts with alluring melodies for the 13-string koto, voice and shinobue bamboo flute.
The title is taken from the final work of the program, which reflects the extreme mental, physical and emotional output of the four musicians who – through the act of playing – seek to experience a "cleansing of the spirit”. And of course, by extension we’d love you to have a cathartic moment, too!
